Reading.....Something Beautiful

As most of you probably know I love to read. I have been reading Something Beautiful by Gloria Gaither and have truly been enjoying some of her stories about why they wrote some of the songs they have written. It just keeps amazing me how someone can have sooo much talent. This couple seem to take the simplest things in life and be able to turn them into a wonderful song. I have been blessed throughout my reading in just reading some of the words to the songs. Sometimes when we sing them in church it just seems to flow and we don't really stop to think about what these words really mean for us as individuals. But for me if I actually stop and read them rather than sing them I really get the meaning of them.

One of these songs this past week that touched me so much was....There's Something About That Name.

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. There's just something about that name.

Master, Savior, Jesus-like the fragrance after the rain;

Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Let all heaven and earth proclaim!

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,

But there's something about that name.

Spoken: Jesus. The mere mention of His name can calm the storm,

heal the broken, raise the dead. At the name of Jesus, I've seen

sin-hardened men melted, derelicts transformed, the lights of

hope put back into the eyes of a hopeless child.....

At the name of Jesus, hatred and bitterness turn to love and

forgiveness; arguments cease.

I've heard a mother softly breathe His name at the bedside of

a child delirious from fever, and I've watched as that little body

grew quiet and the fevered brow cool.

I've sat beside a dying saint, her body racked with pain, who

in those final fleeting seconds summoned her last ounce of ebbing

strength to whisper earth's sweetest name: "Jesus, Jesus...."

Emperors have tried to destroy it; philosophies have tried to

stamp it out. Tyrants have tried to wash it from the face of the

earth with the very blood of those who claimed it. Yet still it

stands.

And there shall be the final day when every voice that has ever

uttered a sound-every voice of Adam's race-shall rise in one

mighty chorus to proclaim the name of Jesus, for in that day every

knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is

truly Lord!

So, you see , it was not mere chance that caused the angel one

night long ago to say to a virgin maiden, "His name shall be called

Jesus."

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. There is something-something about that

name....

There are many others songs that have blessed me this week. This is truly a book worth reading. I know it's not a novel like most of us like to read but it really does flow easy and has very short chapters so you have lots of stopping points. Their songs bless each one of us and I thank God for people like them ( even some whom are not as famous) that can take how each one of us feel and put it into words.

Sara, Yes it would be at the library. If I would go turn it in that is. lol

Janiece, I meant to tell you that our library has a wonderful inspirational section at that has several Karen Kingsbury and Beverly Lewis books. I know you can rent them only two weeks but after that two weeks they let you renew them for another two weeks. So as long as you can read it within the month you should be okay. I constantly have library books. We have the best library. Check it out!!!!
