Valentines Day-Kids

For Valentines Day this year we wanted to do something "special". So Isabelle and Cody made clay dough for the kids in their classroom. It looks so lovely while you are cooking.lol Anyway we mixed the ingredients, rolled out the dough and cut out the hearts with a cookie cutter. Then we put the hearts in the bags and made tags to attach with a ribbon. I helped Austin do this when he was in Kindergarden and thought it would be nice to do it again. Since that was like eight or so years ago. Cody and Isabelle had so much fun and when they are having fun mommy is happy.

Obviously the pan was not hot while Cody was stirring it.lol

Isabelle cutting out her hearts.

Cody's turn to cut some out.

Lets see how many we can fit on here

Of course Isabelle was loving all these little pink hearts. I think they turned out really cute too!

Cody was really happy to have something different to take to class this year.

Austin wanted to be different so he made candy airplanes for the kids in his classroom.
Look mom I can do it myself!

I didn't get to help Austin too much. He's becoming way too independent and I don't like it. But I have to let him grow up sometime and preparing his own Valentines treats would probably be a good place to start.

The Kids Valentine Boxes.

Isabelle made her box at her preschool. She painted the box and put decorations all over it.

Cody's has skate board stuff on it and a picture of himself. Austin made his a football field. He come up with the idea himself. I thought that was a very good idea. He loves to have his picture taken too! Can you tell?
Austin said, "She's making me look like a dork." I don't think I made him look like a dork. He did a fine job of doing that himself. lol I guess he's just at that age. Taking pictures isn't cool anymore.
We had so much fun with Valentines again this year. Now I can't wait to go out with my Valentine tonight.

Reading.....Something Beautiful

As most of you probably know I love to read. I have been reading Something Beautiful by Gloria Gaither and have truly been enjoying some of her stories about why they wrote some of the songs they have written. It just keeps amazing me how someone can have sooo much talent. This couple seem to take the simplest things in life and be able to turn them into a wonderful song. I have been blessed throughout my reading in just reading some of the words to the songs. Sometimes when we sing them in church it just seems to flow and we don't really stop to think about what these words really mean for us as individuals. But for me if I actually stop and read them rather than sing them I really get the meaning of them.

One of these songs this past week that touched me so much was....There's Something About That Name.

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. There's just something about that name.

Master, Savior, Jesus-like the fragrance after the rain;

Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Let all heaven and earth proclaim!

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,

But there's something about that name.

Spoken: Jesus. The mere mention of His name can calm the storm,

heal the broken, raise the dead. At the name of Jesus, I've seen

sin-hardened men melted, derelicts transformed, the lights of

hope put back into the eyes of a hopeless child.....

At the name of Jesus, hatred and bitterness turn to love and

forgiveness; arguments cease.

I've heard a mother softly breathe His name at the bedside of

a child delirious from fever, and I've watched as that little body

grew quiet and the fevered brow cool.

I've sat beside a dying saint, her body racked with pain, who

in those final fleeting seconds summoned her last ounce of ebbing

strength to whisper earth's sweetest name: "Jesus, Jesus...."

Emperors have tried to destroy it; philosophies have tried to

stamp it out. Tyrants have tried to wash it from the face of the

earth with the very blood of those who claimed it. Yet still it

stands.

And there shall be the final day when every voice that has ever

uttered a sound-every voice of Adam's race-shall rise in one

mighty chorus to proclaim the name of Jesus, for in that day every

knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is

truly Lord!

So, you see , it was not mere chance that caused the angel one

night long ago to say to a virgin maiden, "His name shall be called

Jesus."

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. There is something-something about that

name....

There are many others songs that have blessed me this week. This is truly a book worth reading. I know it's not a novel like most of us like to read but it really does flow easy and has very short chapters so you have lots of stopping points. Their songs bless each one of us and I thank God for people like them ( even some whom are not as famous) that can take how each one of us feel and put it into words.
