F.C.A. Good Friday Service

I thank God for the first Good Friday. But I'm so happy to say I serve a risen Savior. He didn't stay in the grave. He is alive and lives forever.

Praise in All Things

In small groups we have been talking about "Loving God" and the key definition has been: To love God is to self-sacrificially commit oneself to delight in Him, to rejoice in serving Him, to desire continually to please Him, to seek one's happiness in Him, and to thirst day and night for a fuller enjoyment of Him.

Wow!!!! That says so much all in and of itself. We have been breaking all of this down into segments. Last night we finished up and will be starting a new topic next month. (I'm so excited about what God has in store for us next month too.) However I was talking about last night wasn't I. We were talking about Thirsting For a Fuller Enjoyment of Him. Thirsting for God's Presence (Psalm 27:4), Thirsting for God in Distress (Psalm 63:1-3), and Thirsting for God in Depression (Psalm 42:1-2).
I truly long for God's presence in my life...but what I think spoke to me the most last night was...When David wrote Psalm 63 he was in the wilderness of Judah, running for his very life. Yet David's deepest longing was for God himself (God's Power and Glory). Somehow it hit me that I don't "praise God in ALL things." I felt like I praised God but when I stop to think about it do I really Praise Him in ALL things. I praise Him when He meets my need or when he comes to our church services, when he speaks to me in my devotions and when things are going well. But it's a little harder to praise Him when He says no to my prayer or when things don't seem to be going the way I think it should. Or maybe when others don't act the way I thik they should or say something that I could take totally wrong, etc. I just want to pubicly say thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this reminder that he is still God even when things aren't going so well and I can thank him for Who He Is not what He does.

Cinderella

Just heard this song today and thought about soon our little princess will be gone. Brought tears to my eyes to think about it. She is already growing way too fast. Soon enough she will meet Mr. Right and won't be living in our home anymore. But hopefully still in our lives. I can't stand the thought of my kids growing up and moving away. (I know that may be what God wants for them. But I believe if he does he will grace for that moment.) Right now I just want to cherish each and every moment with them. http://www.youtube.com/v/EfxL0S-7yVo"> Thank you Carrie for drawing this song to my attention on your blog. It is a very thought provoking song to listen to. Sometimes we need to slow our lives down for our childrens sake. (and our own too)

Our Little Princess

Update: She slept in her bed on Sat. and Sun. night when daddy was home. Then last night (Monday) when he went back to work she slept in her castle again. She ended up crawling in our bed sometime after he got home from work though. Shhh....don't tell anyone we let her crawl in our bed and stay. We usually try to discourage this but didn't last night. She was just too sweet. I know this isn't a good idea because some habits are easier to break before the start and way too hard to break after they've started. She doesn't start out in our bed though. I guess that is a plus.

Our little princess has decided since daddy works nights she is now going to sleep in her own little castle. Daddy has put her to bed each night for as long as I can remember. Now he obviously can't do that and she says "I miss my daddy" every night before she goes to bed. I makes me soooo sad. But I'm wondering if this is her way of dealing with it. Because now she doesn't have to go to "bed" without daddy. She gets in her little castle on a pallet on the floor and goes to sleep instead. Although this makes me kind of sad it makes me kind of happy too. Some adults have a hard time finding ways to cope when things go wrong. So if she can find her own little way of dealing with this tuff time she is going through for now I am very proud of her. Please keep us in mind in your prayers. Sometimes it's hard to put my babies to bed without their daddy being home. But I know that God is good and he works all things out for our good. We will be fine and things are not as near as bad as they could be. This is just a faze we will have to go through for now.

Dr. Suess' Horton Hears A Who! Now @ IHOP

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who!
Jo-jo's Kid's Breakfast
3-mini "Who-Cakes," a pink lollipop,
With boysenberry, blueberry glazes on top,
Chocolate chip sprinkles, make them taste so grand,
Not to mention they're served with "Green Eggs and Ham"
(one egg and creamed spinach all scrambled for you,
with just one strip of ham)-a feast fit for a "Who!"
Our little who (Isabelle) sure enjoyed your breakfast Friday morning. We go out on Friday night sometimes for dinner. But since I didn't need to do the lunch at FCA because of the field trip we decided to go out for breakfast instead. We went to IHOP and got out "little" bellys filled to the top. It was oh so good and Isabelle really liked her little unique meal. It was only $3.99 if your little ones would like to have green eggs and ham.

Feel good moment

As most of you know I used to work at Head Start as a preschool teacher. I now am working for J and S Rentals until Elizebeth can get here to take over. A handsome young man came in with his mother to translate for her. I thought I recognized his mother but wasn't quite sure so I didn't say anything. I did however ask him what grade he is in. He told me eighth grade. He said "Do you remember me?" I told Him no and asked him if he remembered me. He said yes from Head Start. He said I had him and his sister in my class. It dawned on me who they were. I was so excited to see him. He was very handsome and very tall....like really tall...like basketball player tall. It made me feel good to see how well he was doing. And that he remembered me....that must mean I left some sort of a good impression on at least one of my students.

Ps. It was always my prayer that the children would see Christ through me. That why this was so encouraging.

Please pray for us!

We knew when Matt got his new job there was a good possibility that he would have to work nights for a while. Well he has been there for quite some time now and got hired in on days. So we have been thanking God for this great blessing. But they called him into the office yesterday and told him starting tonight he would be on second shift. (And yes we are still thanking God for his many blessings of getting Matt the job, we have insurance, taxes are taken out of his check, and he got to work days as long as he has.) Now I know this is not the end of the world as we know it but it is kind of the end of family time as we know it. He has to be in to work by 4:30 pm. Which means he leaves us at 4:00pm and doesn't get home until after 1:00am. That means I will be a single mom and he won't get to see the kids at all except from 3:00pm to 4:00 pm every night on Monday, Tuesday, Thurs, and Friday. He will see them from 12:30 pm to 4:00pm on Wed. and on the weekends. But really he will only have Cody every other weekend. I don't know about the rest of you but my kids need their daddy. This is not good for any of my kids but exspecially not good for Cody. He really need that male figure in his life. Soooo........Please pray that God works this out for his good. I would love for Matt to get to go back on days of course but even if that does not happen we need God to help us continue to be a close happy family beyond these circumstances. However, I know it would be a very small matter for God to put him back on days if that is his will.

I know, I know.....

I know I need to post again. I've just been to busy. I know we are all busy so I won't bore you with the details but I'm busy with life. One thing after another it seems. I will tell you however that God was oh so real in our service last Sunday night. It felt as if I could reach out and touch him. I love when that happens. I pray that we never loose that in our homes and in our church. I am coming to realize the older I get the more I know I need him in everything. But not only do I need him I truly want him in everything. I love him better every day. God is so good to me!!!!!

My Valentine

SCENES FROM VALENTINES WEEKEND

MY VALENTINE
I haven't posted anything about Valentines Day because I haven't had a way to download my pictures yet. But I think I better post something or forget it. We had a really good time at Hope Community Church's Valentines banquet. Ed and Emma Highlander renewed their wedding vows. They sang a beautiful song to each other. I really don't know if I have laugh so hard in a long, long time. We had guest appearances from Sonny and Cher, Elvis Presley, and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I'm still trying to decide if I want to post pictures of Dolly because she has threatened me. lol We had a wonderful meal (anything Heather cooks is wonderful). And a good time of fellowship together. I will try to post some pictures later.
The sweetest part of Valentines for me came on Friday though. I truly wasn't expecting anything else because we had already went to the banquet on Thursday. But....when I came home from work on Friday there was love songs playing, flower petals, and candles everywhere. I was in a state of shock because normally when I come home there are kids playing, a little girl running to the door to greet me, and all kinds of camotion. I started crying....I know I feel bad about it now. There is my husband trying to be oh so sweet and I'm crying. He kept apologizing and asking why I was crying. But after the shock were off I was so happy that my husband loved me enough to find a sitter for all our kids (different places....Thank you each one for helping) and he picked up the house and decorated it beautifully. We went out to eat at Cracker Barrel, did some shopping, etc.....and then got up for breakfast the next day. It was so nice to have some alone time with my Valentine. This meant so much more to me than any box of candy could have ever meant. Although I did get a box of Choxie chocolate too! I love when he brings me little gifts just to tell me he loves me (which he does often by the way) but it seems at Valentines and other holidays that is kind of "what your suposed to do." So for him to take the time to put more effort into it was so special for me. I think one of my top love languages with him is quality time anyway. So....Lady's I'm so sorry but I believe I have the best husband ever.
